CROX has the ability to patch potholes with new hot asphalt that expends the life of the pavement greatly compared to the common cold mix asphalt patch. Once a pothole is formed the asphalt needs to be removed to correct the sub base. If the sub base is not corrected before adding new asphalt the pot hole will reappear over time. The most common cause of a pot hole starts with a unmaintained crack in the asphalt that has expanded into a wider area due to water being trapped underneath. Over time the sub base is washed away. when a vehicle continually drives over the effected area it begins to sink. Overtime asphalt begins to breakdown causing stress fractures. This makes the asphalt feeble creating a pot hole in the asphalt.
